What your audience is actually worth to a brand

Two events, both a thousand attendees. One commands five times the sponsorship of the other. The difference is never the headcount; it is who the thousand are, how much attention the format earns, and what kind of access the sponsor gets.

When you understand how a marketer values those three things, you can present your audience in terms that justify your price.

Relevance: the multiplier that dwarfs size

A room of five hundred practicing dentists is worth more to a dental equipment brand than a stadium of fifty thousand generalists. Marketers pay for concentration of their exact customer, because everywhere else they pay to filter noise.

So define your audience narrowly and honestly: engineering students in their final year, founders of funded startups, families in one neighbourhood. The narrower the truthful description, the higher the value to the right sponsor.

Attention: what your format earns

A logo scrolled past on a feed gets a fraction of a second. A brand woven into a full-day event, on the stage backdrop, at the stall the attendee visits during the break, gets minutes of cumulative attention in a good mood. Formats that hold people longer, workshops, tournaments, festivals, deliver more attention per attendee, and your pricing can say so.

Access: from impressions to conversations

The top of the value ladder is direct interaction: a stall with foot traffic, a demo, a sampling table, a speaking slot with questions. When a package moves a sponsor from being seen to being talked with, its value jumps. Structure and price your tiers to reflect that jump explicitly.

Write the audience paragraph

Put one paragraph at the top of every pitch: how many people, described as narrowly as truth allows, doing what, for how long, with what chances to interact.
